7.3 earthquake shakes Indonesia
Tsunami alert was deactivated
Without leaving victims or significant material damage, a 7.3 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake had its epicenter north of the Flores Islands, 100 kilometers from the city of Maumere, with a depth of 18.5, according to the USGS.
In Manggarai, a person was injured, and a school was affected on the island of Selayar, this was announced by the spokesman for the disaster management agency Abdul Muhari.
Uncontrollable panic
In the city of Maumere, the earthquake caused an uncontrolled panic in the inhabitants who participated in a vaccination day.
The first images that went viral on social networks are from a vaccination day when more than 200 people began to leave the premises to seek refuge.
Despite the fact that there was no material or physical damage, the corresponding authorities demanded that the inhabitants remain calm and be prudent, as later several aftershocks were made.
Caution and alert
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center raised a Tsunami warning signal after the earthquake, this considering that Indonesia is the epicenter of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions due to its location in the "arc of fire" of the Pacific.

It is important to remember that in 2004 a terrible 9.1 earthquake caused a tsunami, which left at least 220,000 dead in the Sumatra region. And in 2018, the island of Lombok was rocked by several earthquakes that left more than 550 dead.
During this same year, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake devastated the island of Sulawesi, where 4,300 people were missing.
The authorities deactivated the Tsunami alert, but demanded that the population move away from the coasts, and remain prudent during the last hours.
