President Joe Biden takes new action against the Omicron variant
500 million tests will be distributed at home
A few days before Christmas and with fear of returning to confinement, US President Joe Biden assures that vaccinated Americans will be able to celebrate despite the omicron variant.
Despite the president's statements, it should be noted that the omicron variant is the most contagious of all, and in the United States 26.6% of coronavirus cases are from this variant. This has been reported through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, in English).
Despite this, Biden wanted to reassure Americans, pointing out that vaccination is necessary to continue with vacation plans.
It also announced the purchase of 500 million home rapid COVID-19 tests and a plan to distribute them through a website. For now, the administration is studying how the tests will be delivered at home.
